Spectators watching the second round of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic were faced with a sea of pink, as players turned out in force to support one the tournament’s main charities, the Al Jalila Foundation.

In association with Brest Friends, the only cancer support group in Dubai, the Foundation aims to tackle the issues of breast cancer in the UAE by raising awareness, funding research and supporting the treatment of patients.

All the players were encouraged to support the cause by wearing something pink on the day, and among those who answered the call were the staff ambassadors for Callaway Apparel.

Pink features strongly in the brand’s Spring/Summer Collection, and Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn, David Horsey, Pablo Larrazabal and Sebastien Gros were among several Callaway ambassadors to show that real men can wear pink.

Bjorn said: “This is a great initiative and one we were all delighted to support. All of us in the Callaway team were looking resplendent in our pink shirts as we supported this great cause at the DDC.”

David Horsey, added: “Cancer awareness has always been dose to my heart with my mum suffering in the past. It was great to see everyone supporting this by wearing pink on the Friday of the Dubai Desert Classic.”
