Rudimental and Simple Minds set to rock Wentworth at BMW PGA Championship

London band Rudimental and Scottish rock legends Simple Minds will headline the BMW Show Stage at Wentworth Club over the weekend of May 26-27, bringing a suitably spectacular close to the third and fourth day of the 2018 BMW PGA Championship.

Ahead of their upcoming third album, the band released the hit single ‘When The Sun Comes Up’ featuring James Arthur in 2017, and their performance in May will be one of the band’s first UK-outings in 2018, joining Simple Minds – who will take the stage on Sunday night – as one of the headline acts at this year’s Championship.

After bursting on to the scene in 2012 with their No.1 album ‘Home’, the Hackney quartet won the Brit Award and MOBO Award for best album in 2013 and have achieved platinum awards for record sales in several countries after the release of their 2015 album ‘We The Generation’.

Rudimental’s DJ and frontman Leon Rolle said: “We’re excited to take the stage at the BMW PGA Championship in May. We think it’s a great idea to combine a world-class sporting event with a live gig to cap off a great day out for the fans, so I’m sure the atmosphere on Saturday night will be awesome.”

With their 17th album recently released, Simple Minds is preparing to follow in the footsteps of the Kaiser Chiefs, Mike and the Mechanics and Status Quo, all of whom have played at the BMW PGA Championship in recent years. Lead singer Jim Kerr, who has fronted the band since the late seventies, said:

“It’s fantastic that we will be able to experience something we have never done before. We’re very excited to bring the curtains down on what promises to be an enthralling week on the golf course. Bringing music to a golf event is a fantastic idea, and we are relishing the chance to be part of it.”

General admission tickets, onsite parking and grandstand seating for the tournament are available for exclusive early bird prices, while an afternoon session ticket is also available on both Saturday and Sunday for £35 and £40 respectively, if booked before January 31. It allows general admission to the Wentworth Club from 1pm to enjoy an afternoon of golf, followed by 90 minutes of live music.
