In closing out the Tour Championship, Rory McIlroy also became the first golfer to win the FedEx Cup series on three separate occasions. Success in the Tour Championship was his third win of the season after he claimed victory in the CJ Cup and the Canadian Open.
McIlroy will now focus on Europe and the DP World Tour. As the PGA season concludes, he is scheduled to compete in the Italian Open and the BMW PGA Championship.
It’s been a consistent year and, alongside those three trophies, Rory has also recorded a number of single digit finishes. The only disappointment for the 33-year-old will have been a failure to capture another Major trophy.
McIlroy came close to success in the US Masters and in the Open Championship but was edged out on the final day on both occasions. That was the only blemish on a solid campaign, but now it’s time for Rory to focus on 2022/23.
