RICHMOND UNVEILS ‘RACE TO THE ALGARVE’ CHAMPION

The winner of a weekly winter golf league held at Richmond Park Golf Course in Surrey is preparing to jet off to Portugal after winning a week’s holiday in Vale de Lobo as the first prize.

Eight-handicapper Phil Taggart picked up the prize, which is worth over £800, with a flawless performance over the Race to the Algarve league’s 15 games. Runner up was Martin Currie, who won the latest Motocaddy S1 digital trolley, while third place went to Namjun Kim, who received a GolfBuddy GPS watch.

Nick McArthur, sales manager at Richmond Park, who presented the winners with their prizes, said: “We’re delighted to present such a fantastic prize, supplied courtesy of Owners Direct. Phil got off to a great start and fought off fierce competition to be the eventual league winner. He’s now got some more amazing golf to look forward to in Vale de Lobo!”

Following the popularity of the Race to the Algarve Winter League, Richmond Park is launching a new summer series starting in May. League games are played every Thursday over a 10-hole version of the Prince’s Course. There will be prizes for every weekly game and Owners Direct is once again providing the grand prize of a week’s stay in Vale de Lobo for the overall league winner.

The Race to the Algarve league tees off again on Thursday May 14 and is open to both visitors and members. Games will be played every Thursday throughout the summer and green fees are a special rate of £16, which includes the entry fee.
