Lancashire’s Bronte Law became the latest English player to make an impact on the LPGA Tour with a two-shot victory at the Pure Silk Championship in Virginia.
The 24-year-old from Stockport made five birdies in a final-round 67 to finish 17 under par and clear of Madelene Sagstrom, Brooke Henderson and Nasa Hataoka, who all tied for second.
Law’s victory came three weeks after she lost in a play-off at the LPGA’s Mediheal Championship in California.
“It feels surreal to be honest after coming so close a few weeks ago,” Law said. “I came in here with the sole intention of going one better and it feels really good. I don’t believe in destiny, I believe in hard work and determination and to be in contention again, and for it to be the very next time out playing, was really cool. It shows me that I can compete at the top on a weekly basis, which is the whole goal out here.”
