With Ireland hosting the legendary Ryder Cup for the first time in 20 years, the 2026 meeting, will held at Adare Manor, announced Thursday the organisers of the golf tournament which pits the best American players against the best European players every two years.
Since Ireland last hosted The Ryder Cup in 2006, the biennial contest has extended its reach as one of the world’s leading sporting events. The 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National in France attracted more than 270,000 fans on course across the week – the largest attendance for a Ryder Cup held in Europe – with record social media engagement of more than 22 billion impressions globally.

In 2026, the Adare Manor, in County Limerick, in the south-west of the country, will welcome the best golfers in the world. This course, in the heart of a five-star resort, has already hosted the Irish Open twice (2007 and 2008).
Europe has won nine of the last twelve Ryder Cups. Before Ireland, the competition will travel to the United States (2020, 2024) and Italy (2022).

The legendary Irish golf spots
“WOW!” That’s all Tiger Woods could say as the morning fog lifted to reveal the challenge of the 15th hole at the Old Head Golf Links in Kinsale, County Cork (the southernmost point of the Wild Atlantic Way – and one of Ireland’s many golfing ‘beauties’). He’s not wrong: humpback whales diving in the swirling waters, sea birds swooping down and hares frolicking – you’re in harmony with the immense power of nature on Ireland’s links. Make sure you keep an eye on the ball… Firstly, the Royal County Down where the 2015 Irish Open Golf Tournament was played, and where, according to Rory McIlroy: “The more you play, the more you appreciate the elegance of the place. Portmarnock in Dublin, Carton House in Kildare, Druids Glen Golf Resort in Wicklow, Killarney Golf Club in County Kerry, Mount Juliet in Kilkenny and Fota Island in Cork are other Irish Open guests to keep in mind if you are looking for a challenging golfing itinerary. Finally, there is also the magnificent Royal Portrush, presented as a possible future host of the 2019 Open.
