Golfers at The Shire in north London will be rocking to the sounds of award-winning DJ Trevor Nelson next month, after the renowned broadcaster agreed to host to a golf tournament in aid of male cancer charity Orchid.
The Trevor Nelson Swing event, which is to take place at the Potter Bar-based club on June 19, promises to bring urban golf to the suburbs, with a wide range of sound-based entertainment, including a nightclub-themed gazebo by the seventh tee, a mobile bar with its own DJ, and sound systems on the patio and practice range pumping tunes out across the 27-hole course.
The laid-back event allows players to wear jeans, while errant shots can be replayed for a £10 donation to the charity. There are prizes for longest drive and nearest the pin, and golfers can also enter a Beat The Pro contest on the 7th hole by making a donation to Orchid. After golf, there will be a meal in the clubhouse with soul food and music, and Nelson himself will be giving out the prizes.
“We’re having 2015’s coolest golf day, and we want to raise the maximum amount for Orchid,” said Nelson. “All proceeds are going directly to the charity, so we really want people to come along to The Shire, join me in having fun on the golf course, and relax afterwards. We had 90 golfers take part last year, so this year we are going all-out to top that, and I can guarantee it’ll be one of the most memorable times you’ve ever had on the golf course!”
Teams of four cost £349, which includes breakfast and a two-course post-golf meal, and a gift pack including a signed copy of Nelson’s latest Sony album, The Trevor Nelson Collection 3. For bookings, email [email protected] or call 020 84417649.
