American Golf doubles prize fund for Rose Ladies Series
American Golf is to co-sponsor the new Rose Ladies Series which gets under way at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club in Hampshire on June 18.
Europe’s leading golf retailer will join Justin Rose in sponsoring the newly-created series, which is designed to give the UK professional women golfers some competitive action this summer prior to the Ladies European Tour resuming its schedule once Covid-19 restrictions allow.
The Rose Ladies Series will see professionals compete across seven tournaments staged behind closed doors, with Sky Sports on site to broadcast the action. The first event is set for Brokenhurst Manor, with Rose contributing £35,000 as prize money, a figure that has been matched by American Golf, who will be the title sponsor of the Rose Ladies Series Order of Merit.“I am so delighted that American Golf has decided to join forces with Kate and I in support of the women’s game,” said Rose. “American Golf has always played a huge role in their support of the game, particularly in terms of encouraging more women and young players to take up the sport, and I cannot thank all the team at American Golf enough for contacting us to see how they could help support the Rose Ladies Series.”
Royal St George’s Golf Club in Kent is one of the host venues for the Series, while Bearwood Lakes in Berkshire, JCB Golf & Country Club in Staffordshire, Moor Park in Hertfordshire, and Buckinghamshire Golf Club add to the roster of top-class venues for the series, all of which have offered their courses at no charge.
American Golf CEO Gary Favel said: “As a business, we are so inspired by what Justin and his wife Kate are doing in the ladies game that we felt compelled to get involved. American Golf is a company that prides itself on giving back to the game. Like Justin and Kate, we recognise that the world of women’s golf needs our support now more than ever and we are delighted to support the Rose Ladies Series in giving something back. We are really excited about this partnership and proud to be working alongside one of the world’s best golfers in Justin Rose. We hope this is just the beginning of a successful partnership that will not only benefit the ladies game, but the sport of golf as a whole.”
