The Belfry Hotel & Resort has solidified its place at the heart of UK golf with the phenomenal debut of The Belfry Classic Golf Day, raising more than £110,000 for charity.
The invite-only event attracted a star-studded lineup from the worlds of sport and entertainment. Celebrities including Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave, Line of Duty and Peaky Blinders actor Nigel Boyle, football legend Alan McInally, all took to the championship Brabazon course in an exciting four-ball format, following in the footsteps of golfing greats.
The day was hosted by renowned sports presenter and broadcaster Dan Walker, and featured a series of unique activities both on and off the course. Highlights included a “Beat the Pro” challenge with European Tour alum Robert Rock, a “Hole in One” competition offering a John Deere golf buggy as the prize, and on-course gourmet Indian cuisine from Five Rivers À La Carte.
Actor and singer Ashley Taylor Dawson, who was also crowned Best Celebrity Golfer, praised the event, saying:
“A huge thank you to The Belfry for an incredible weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute – such a wonderful event and so well organised!”
The excitement continued into the evening with a show-stopping gala dinner created by Great British Menu winner Tom Shepherd, featuring his signature “No Ordinary Schoolboy” dessert. Guests also enjoyed a lively BBQ, exclusive drinks receptions, a high-stakes live auction, and a vibrant afterparty at the Brabazon Bar, with entertainment from live band Apollo Soul.
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan was among many who hailed the event a resounding success:
“The whole golf day was so good. Everyone I spoke to said it was the best one ever – the Belfry team, the organisation and the evening event were next level.”
Funds raised during the event will support two of The Belfry’s official charity partners: Hospitality Action and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Charlotte Taylor, Senior Corporate Partnerships Executive at MNDA, commented:
“We had an incredible day and are so grateful for the amazing support. The evening was even better than the day, with so many generous bids on the auction. The Belfry hospitality really is something – easily the best golf day ever!”
Hospitality Action added:
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the Belfry Classic Golf Day such an incredible success. This inaugural event was the perfect blend of golf, networking and celebration.”
With its seamless blend of elite sport, luxurious hospitality, and charitable impact, the Belfry Classic is already being hailed as a standout addition to the golfing calendar. The next Belfry Classic Golf Day is already confirmed to return on May 21, 2026—and promises to be even bigger and better.
