Tyrrell Hatton has been named in the Great Britain and Ireland side to face Continental Europe in the Team Cup in January.
Hatton is the only LIV Golf player set to compete in the event in Abu Dhabi, which was revived in 2023 to aid the preparation of European players for the Ryder Cup.
The event effectively fills the gap left by the Seve Trophy, which was held eight times between 2000 and 2013 and gave captaincy experience to future Ryder Cup skippers Colin Montgomerie, Jose Maria Olazabal, Nick Faldo, Paul McGinley and Thomas Bjorn.
THE TEAMS
Francesco Molinari will lead Continental Europe in their defence of the trophy, with Justin Rose captain of Great Britain and Ireland. The final member of each side will be selected after the Nedbank Golf Challenge on December 8.
Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald said: “This event provided valuable insight for a number of players who eventually made it to Marco Simone, with six of the 20 competitors in 2023 going on to play in the Ryder Cup, three of those making their debut appearances.
“We’re excited to see who can make their mark next year as they try and earn a place in my side for New York.”
