American actor Tom Cruise surprised golfers at Richmond Golf Club earlier this week when he landed beside the Surrey venue’s course in a private helicopter.
The Mission Impossible star wasn’t rushing for a late tee time, however, but had merely stopped by for lunch in the clubhouse.
Wearing jeans and a dark blue jumper, the actor’s his face was hidden behind a mask and dark glasses, but there was no mistaking the identity of the 58-year-old star, who has been in the UK for the past month filming the seventh and eighth instalments of the Mission: Impossible franchise at an abandoned RAF base in rural Oxfordshire.
Cruise was granted special permission from the UK government for the restart of the MI7 production, as an exemption from nationwide safety regulations. Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden ruled that MI7 was an essentially British production, so American cast and crew flying into the UK did not have to comply to the 14-day quarantine rule imposed on others flying in from the US.
Cruise is known for being an avid golf fan. It is known that he played a lot in the past, but right now he simply does not have time for it. At the same time, Cruise starred in a movie called Rain Man, where there is a scene in a casino alongside Dustin Hoffman.
Some people because of the movie and his love for golf allegedly deduced that Cruise was involved in gambling and takes part in online casino betting a lot. But none of these assumptions are correct and Cruise is simply enjoying golf and nothing more.
