Leeds Castle golf course now offers golfers a delicious reason to return to play at the historic course.
With new catering facilities, the clubhouse now serves hungry golfers with fresh and tasty home-cooked breakfasts and lunches, while there is even a traditional afternoon tea served from vintage bone china.
In recent years, Leeds Castle Golf Course has undergone major investment work to bring the course and facilities up to a higher standard. The addition of local caterer, Sue’s Kitchen, now gives golfers somewhere to sit, relax, and enjoy a beer or a glass of wine and something to eat, and it is already proving popular with season ticket holders.
In 2013, the historic nine-hole golf course underwent a major four-year ‘facelift’. The renovation programme saw a number of key changes which brought the stunning castle backdrop more into play, including a new 6th hole that runs along the moat’s edge, and a teasing par-three 8th hole, while the closing 9th hole has been extended from a par three to a testing par four. Elsewhere, a woodland management programme has thinned out overgrown areas to ensure almost every hole enjoys views of one of English golf’s most scenic venues, while new teeing areas and new drainage systems have significantly improved the year-round playing experience.
This month sees the re-opening of the clubhouse signifying the completion of the final stage of the project, 85 years after the course was first opened for play. Alan Walker, PGA Master Professional and EIGCA Golf Course Architect said: “Four years ago, Leeds Castle Golf Club embarked on a major project to upgrade all aspects of their golf course, clubhouse and membership offering. This month that process has drawn towards a conclusion, resulting in a totally refurbished golf course and clubhouse facility that is truly first class in anyone’s view.
Leeds Castle is now ideally positioned to offer golfers a unique experience playing golf on one of the most beautiful golfing settings anywhere in the world. I have thoroughly enjoyed overseeing each element of the project and seeing it all come together. It’s a very special place.”
Steve Purves, Leeds Castle’s PGA Professional added: “The newly refurbished clubhouse is another exciting step in the continuing progress of golf at Leeds Castle, the future of golf here is bright.”
The golf course is open daily for green fee visitors, while season tickets are available for five- and seven-day membership, with prices starting from just £320. Both memberships come with a range of money-saving benefits and advanced booking options, while xxisting members can invite a friend to enjoy golf on the historic course and, as a thank you, if they then decide to become a season ticket holder, the existing member will enjoy a £40 discount off their next renewal.
