The final line-up for the 2023 European Solheim Cup team was confirmed today following the naming of the four captain’s picks to go with the eight automatic qualifiers that were announced on Sunday.
Captain’s Picks for Team Europe
European Team captain Suzann Pettersen has picked Scotland’s Gemma Dryburgh, Sweden’s Madelene Sagström and Caroline Hedwall, as well as Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen as her four captain’s picks.
Who else is in Team Europe for The Solheim Cup
They will join qualifiers Celine Boutier, Maja Stark, Charley Hull, Georgia Hall, Leona Maguire, Linn Grant, Carlota Ciganda and playing vice-captain Anna Nordqvist in completing the 12-strong line-up to face the USA in Finca Cortesin in Spain from September 22-24.
Speaking about her team, Pettersen said: “I’m very happy with my team right now. Congratulations to the eight players who have automatically qualified, and my four captain’s picks. We have so much experience in the team and it’s great to have our rookies Maja and Linn representing Europe for the first time. We have never had such a strong group of players in terms of world ranking. The European players have been playing well this year and putting in strong performances across the board.”
Europe has won the last two renewals of the Solheim Cup and will be seeking an unprecedented third straight win in the matches for the first time for a European team since the matches began in 1990.
