After several months of speculation, the date for a high-stakes grudge match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson has finally been set.
The two players, whose combined age is 90, will face off over 18 holes at the ultra-exclusive Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, where the winner will walk away with a cool $10m, a portion of which will be donated to charity.
The ‘will they, won’t they’ speculation surrounding the match ended earlier this week when both players went on social media to stoke up the rivalry that exists between the two.
The one-on-one showdown, which is being dubbed simply as ‘The Match’, is scheduled to take place on either November 23 or 24, which is Thanksgiving weekend in America.
Woods, 42, and Mickelson, 48, are the two richest and most successful golfers of their generation, and rank first and second on the career money leaderboard, with $112m and $87m in prize money earnings respectively. Woods has won 14 major titles and 79 tournaments, compared to five majors and 42 tour wins for Mickelson.
Details on the broadcasting rights for the match have yet to be released.
