Nelly Korda held off Hannah Green at the Mizuho Americas Open to claim her sixth win in her last seven starts on the LPGA Tour.
The world number one, who had won on five consecutive victories before last week’s Cognizant Founders Cup, became the first player since Inbee Park in 2013 to win six times in a season.
“I can’t even really gather myself right now with that,” Korda said. “Wasn’t my best stuff out there today but fought really hard on the back nine.”
Korda started the day at Liberty National with a two-shot lead, but Green drew level after just two holes and the Australian briefly held the lead after seven holes.
The pair matched birdies over the start of the back nine and reached the final hole all square, Green failing the get up and down from a greenside bunker to take their battle into a playoff.
