Thorbjorn Olesen has been suspended by the European Tour pending the investigation into his arrest on charges of being drunk on an aircraft and assaulting a female passenger while she slept.
Olesen is to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on August 21 on charges of sexual assault, being drunk aboard an aircraft and common assault, according to Metropolitan Police.
He is alleged to have urinated in the first-class aisle of British Airways flight, as well as verbally abused flight attendants and passengers, and then molested a female passenger while she slept. Olsen was travelling back to London after playing in the WGC St Jude Invitational in Nashville, Texas.
According to a statement from the European Tour, the 29-year-old Dane has been suspended from competitive action pending the outcome of the case.
Olefin’s lawyer, Paul Morris, released a statement that read: “Thorbjorn has cooperated fully with the police during their investigation, but while the legal proceedings are still ongoing he unfortunately cannot comment on this matter at this time.”
