ENTRY OPENS FOR EUROPRO TOUR QUALIFYING SCHOOL

The PGA EuroPro Tour has confirmed the venues for its 2017 Qualifying School, for which entries opened on January 4.

First Stage qualifying, which is open to all professional golfers, as well as amateurs with an official handicap of two or less, will take place March 29-30 across six different UK courses, with final stage the following week at its usual host venue, Frilford Heath in Oxfordshire.

Caversham Heath, Chart Hills, Haggs Castle and Players Club, all return, having staged Qualifying School tournaments in 2016, with Formby Hall and Mannings Heath Golf Club & Wine Estate completing the six-course line-up. Official practice at all six venues will take place on March 28.

First Stage qualifying takes place over 36 holes, with golfers opting to play at one of the six courses. Those who are successful at First Stage Qualifying will advance to play at Frilford Heath between April 5-7, where one round will be played on each the Red and Blue courses, before the top 80 and ties from the 240-man field play a final round on the Blue Course.

The 2017 EuroPro Tour schedule begins on April 26, with Close House in Newcastle hosting the opening event. The North Eastern venue is also staging a European Tour event, the British Masters, in October.

Frilford Heath is hosting its regular EuroPro Tour event on May 17-19, while nearby Studley Wood will be the venue for a tournament in June 21-23. Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa (July 26-28) makes its EuroPro debut for the tour’s ninth event of the year, before Mannings Heath (August 2-4) also welcome’s Europe’s top development tour for the first time. For details of the full schedule, click here.

EuroPro Tour players will be competing for over £800,000 of prize money in 2017, with the top five players at the end of the season awarded a category on the 2018 Challenge Tour.
