Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa has been chosen to host the Challenge Tour’s Bridgestone Challenge later this year.
Following a successful reintroduction to the Challenge Tour schedule in 2016, when it was held at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire, the tournament was moved to Luton Hoo in 2017, and returns to the luxury resort on the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border this autumn, where a strong field is expected to take part in what is a rare sortie to English shores for the second tier professional tour.
Sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres, the 72-hole event is being staged from September 6-9, with a pro-am set to take place on September 5.
Matthew Long, general manager at Luton Hoo said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Bridgestone Challenge for a second consecutive year this September. We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Challenge Tour schedule last year, and are looking forward to being involved again in 2018 in an even bigger and better event.”
Alain de Soultrait, director of the Challenge Tour commented on the upcoming event, “We are delighted to be able to partner with Bridgestone Tyres again in 2018, and are excited to build on the success of last year’s event; we are also very pleased to return to Luton Hoo. The Challenge Tour is the best path for young players looking to make their way in the professional game, and we have seen many great English players come through our ranks.”
Last year’s event, which involved a modified Stableford format, was won by Sweden’s Oscar Lengden, who shot a final round 62 en route to amassing 49 points and taking the €28,000 first prize.
Admission is free for spectators and there is no need to book in advance. With un-roped viewing access, and a variety of activities, as well as food and beverage stalls, the three-day tournament promises to offer an enjoyable experience for the whole family.
