This Friday sees the LIV Golf League begin its 14-event schedule for the 2024 season at Mayakoba’s El Camaleón Golf Course on Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
Officials for the circuit led by Greg Norman and backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund planned for the teams and the full schedule to be announced by the end of 2023, but the releases were delayed until just days before its 2024 opener due to late signings of Tyrrell Hatton, Adrian Meronk and Lucas Herbert.
Plenty of the familiar teams from last season are back, but with the addition of Jon Rahm, there’s a new team in the fold, Legion III, which is being captain by the Spaniard, with Hatton, and newcomers Kieran Vincent and Caleb Surratt making up the quartet.
Elsewhere, Meronk and LIV Golf Promotions event winner Kalle Samooja have joined Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks team, which is rounded up by England’s Richard Bland, while Herbert has joined the all-Aussie Ripper team captained by Cam Smith.
Scott Vincent and Jinichiro Kozuma have joined the Irons Heads team captained by Kevin Na, with the squad completed by New Zealand’s Danny Lee.
Matthew Wolff has left Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC team after some well publicised back-and-forths over Wolff’s form, and joined Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats GC, which also includes Thomas Pieters and Peter Ulhein.

On the heels of announcing final teams, LIV Golf has also announced a number of key changes to the format, scoring systems and prize fund allocations ahead of this week’s season-opening event in Mexico.
FIELD SIZE – 54 players, including 13 teams (4 players each) and 2 wild card players, who will play purely as individuals.
COUNTING SCORES – Each team’s top three scores count for rounds 1 and 2. All four scores will now count for each team in the final round of each event.
INDIVIDUAL POINTS DISTRIBUTION – Points for players finishing with the same score will be added up and distributed evenly. Tiebreakers will only be in effect to determine podium positions.
SEASON-LONG INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS – Season long individual standings will retain the Lock Zone for positions 1-24, with updated cut-offs for the Open Zone (25-48) and Drop Zone (49 and below) to reflect the increased field size. Players finishing in the top 24 at the end of the regular season secure their 2025 spot in the League. Players finishing 25-48 who are out of contract will need to be re-signed by their team or picked up by another team. Players finishing 49 and below are relegated out of the League and qualify for the 2024 LIV Golf Promotions tournament.
INDIVIDUAL POINTS & PRIZE MONEY – Individual points will again be awarded to the top-24 finishers in each event. Prize money payouts have been adjusted to account for the six players added to the field. Click here to view tournament points and purse distribution for 2024.
TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD – The top 12 teams following the 13th regular season event will be seeded. The team that finishes in 13th place will not compete but will still attend.
