Olé for Holé at Alps Tour Final

France’s Augustin Holé won the Alps Tour Grand Final after beating Spain’s Quim Vidal in a sudden death play-off at Asolo Golf Club in Italy.

Both players tied 10-under-par after four rounds, but it was Holé who took the €10,000 winner’s cheque after making a birdie at the first extra hole of the play-off.  Tied for third place at 9 under was Italy’s Elia Dallanegra, Ireland’s Paul McBride and France’s Benjamin Kedochim.

Mullarney also secured himself one of the five coveted promotions to next season’s Challenge Tour as winner of the 2023 Alps Tour Order of Merit, with Quim Vidal, Kiet Van der Weele, Oihan Guillamoundeguy and England’s Jack Floydd, who is attached to Haywards Heath Golf Club in Sussex, taking the remaining four cards on offer.

After his victory, Holé said: “I couldn’t have wished for anything better than this. I fought hard today and throughout the entire event. It’s been a goal of mine to win an Alps Tour event for over a year and to be able to do it today, is very satisfying. I lost my dad a couple of years back, and this one is definitely for him and for my family. I now have Stage 2 of Qualifying School and hopefully I will be able to repeat the same thing there, but we will see how it goes. For now, I will just enjoy this win.”

Mullarney, who won twice on the Alps Tour this season, said: “As much as it is great being on the Alps Tour, I’m glad to be moving on to the next step. I was happy with my golf this year. I feel ready to compete on the Challenge Tour. I was able to play a few events before and I was able to step up my game so now I’m ready. The standard of the Alps Tour is extremely high. The courses are great, and it’s a good test of your game.”
