The 44th Ryder Cup takes place at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, between Sept 29th – Oct 1st, with Team Europe looking to win the trophy back from Team USA.
European captain, Luke Donald has a mixture of old hands and new faces in his team, as he looks to avenge the 19-9 loss back in 2021, but faces a tough task, with Zach Johnson’s team, once again favourite to take the title according to bookmakers.
Betting on the Ryder Cup can be a fraught affair outside of picking the winner, with many Ryder Cup betting offers available to customers too, so the question is what markets are best to bet upon?
Outright Markets
Outright markets on the Ryder Cup include selecting the event or daily winning team, although bigger odds are available when it comes to the correct score market, which asks customers to predict the exact scoreline of the overall event, an individual day, or the individual game type (foursome/fourball).
Player Markets
Player markets are arguably the most interesting of the markets available, with bettors picking the player that scores the most points over the three days. A player can technically play five matches and thus win five points, so it is advisable to select the star players, who are likely to perform, such as Jon Rahm or Justin Thomas.
Even better for player backers, is the fact that these markets are further split, with top European, American, British, Left-handed, Wild Card and Rookie markets all available to maximize your chances.
Match Betting
Finally, match-betting lets customers bet on the individual matchups being played.
Players can bet on the outcome, the scoreline and even the player to make the winning shot. Accumulator or multiple betting is possible here too and offers potentially higher odds, but the format of the Ryder Cup does limit the scope of options here.
An issue with match betting on the Ryder Cup is that the team captains keep the next day’s order of play a secret, until as late as possible, which makes placing a bet on the next set of matches difficult.
Our advice is simple, keep an eye on your favourite bookmaker or the Official Ryder Cup page for the latest team news and take advantage as early as possible.
