KBS completes Tour sweep including maiden Graphite Putter Shaft victory

KBS, the only brand to offer a high-performance shaft for every club in the bag, enjoyed a clean sweep of victories across five top professional Tours last weekend, including a first win in elite competition for the brand-new GPS (Graphite Putter Shaft) model.

The host of KBS-inspired triumphs included thrilling wins on the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour, the LPGA Tour, the PGA Champions Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour.

“It’s incredible to be associated with five professional Tours victories across the globe on the same weekend,” said Kim Braly, Master Shaft Engineer and Director of R&D for KBS Golf Shafts. “Our Tour team works exceptionally hard and these wins are a toast to them and the quality of their craftsmanship,” he added.

On the DP World Tour, the new GPS shaft (120g) proved a key feature in the bag of the new Porsche European Open champion during the same week of it being fitted.

The 20-year-old from Belfast, Northern Ireland, used the White GPS shaft to gain 0.87 Stroke Gained on the field as he won his maiden DP World Tour title by two shots in Hamburg, Germany. The win was cemented by a phenomenal five-iron approach to seven- foot on the final hole from over 200-yards, which was hit using the KBS C-Taper 125g shafts, that is fitted across all of his irons.

“It’s a great testament to the GPS shaft that we’ve had a winner so quickly, as we’ve only been fitting it into players on the DP World Tour over the past three to four weeks,” said Kim. “We know professional players like to really deep dive into putter testing and a lot of it is about feel and looks, so our team puts in the hard hours to make sure they have the exact shaft they need. We’re excited that so many top players are putting the GPS in their bag and that amateur golfers can also benefit from its Tour-proven stability on the greens,” he added.

On the PGA Tour at Muirfield Village in Columbus, Ohio, the 25-year-old Norwegian used KBS Tour V 120g in his irons and one of his wedges, plus the Tour V 130g in his other three wedges to claim the Memorial Tournament trophy. His eighth Tour title moved him up two places in the Official World Golf Rankings to fifth. A playoff victory secured the title following a two-under round of 70 on Sunday.

Another playoff on the LPGA Tour featured a stunning shot into the second extra hole using a KBS Tour Hybrid Graphite Prototype shaft to seal victory for the 20-year-old American at the Mizuho Americas Open at the Liberty National Golf Course in New Jersey. She became the first player to win an LPGA tour event while making their professional debut since 1951.

On the competitive PGA Tour Champions, the KBS Tour 125g iron shaft helped the 59- year-old dual citizen (Canada & Trinidad & Tobago) win the Principal Charity Classic by one stroke on -17 under at the Wakonda Golf Club in Iowa. He birdied the 17th hole and closed with a five-under 67 to claim his third PGA Tour Champions title this year.

Rounding off the winning weekend, the KBS C-Taper 130g iron shafts were used throughout the bag of the 30-year-old Argentine golfer who claimed playoff victory at the inaugural UNC Health Championship hosted at Raleigh Country Club in North Carolina.

Played by choice by more than 300 professional golfers worldwide, the brand with the distinctive Red and Black label partners with every club manufacturer in the game to offer the best players in the world 18 different shafts across every club in the bag.
